Russian Roulette: The Fashion Edition

Even though we found ourselves in somewhat of a heatwave last weekend in Montreal, Fall has been here for over a week now, and she’s starting to assert herself, especially today with this cold rainy weather. This first dawned on me though as I was making my way to the metro last Saturday. I noticed just how many leaves my AF1s Shadow Edition sneakers (basic, I know, but dependable) were crunching underfoot. It was reinforced as I drove to Ottawa with friends later that day and passed the most vibrant leaves in endless hues of red, yellow, and orange. Needless today, it was GORGEOUS!

On the other hand, Fall has also welcomed increasing Covid case numbers and security measures; Montreal has entered Red Alert. Bars and restaurants again are closed, and residents are being asked to stay inside and remain exclusively with their immediate families. Again we are being forced inside, for good reason, but, nonetheless, we’re losing a little freedom we had gained back for a time.

I passed a guy coming out of the SAQ complaining about how life has lost its spontaneity, and it made me tune in (obviously I eavesdropped a little), but I realized he was right. Maybe that’s why I struck up a conversation with a stranger on the train the next day. Regardless, it stuck with me, and in the spirit of staying sane in what is another “mini-lockdown”, let’s just play a game.

I call it: Fashion Roulette.

Also I think it’s fitting since we are in the middle of Spring Collection season, with Paris Fashion Week beginning earlier this week on September 28th. Add to that the fact that we are just coming out of September, which was the most packed show schedule of the entire year.

Rules of the game are simple. You’ll be presented looks that have “gone down the runway” in recent weeks separated by both Fashion Week and designer. Knock out those you don’t vibe with and showcase your winners by voting in our website polls.
